Shells and Seashore Life of East Gippsland is perfect for anyone who loves rock pool rambles and beachcombing and wants to learn more about the creatures they observe along our coast. East Gippsland has a very rich marine life and specialist guide Alan Monger will be leading this trip with me. Alan has pursued a great interest and love of shells and other seashore life for over 50 years and is keen to share his enthusiasm for the unique creatures that make our coastline home. No previous knowledge or experience is needed but bring along a healthy curiosity and a desire to learn more about shells and other marine life.
What about a river somewhere… River Life at Waterholes is another new tour for 2012 which will explore the life that live in and around a river, the Nicholson River. Although you will feel remote, we won’t be roughing it at all. The Nicholson River is right on the doorstep of Waterholes Guesthouse, so we just walk out the door, through the garden and we are there. When we think about what lives in a river we quickly think of fish, platypus and frogs, but what about the tiny creatures that live on the sandy bottom or under rocks. Armed with dip nets discover some of the macro-invertebrates life and learn why they are so important to the health of the river. Enjoy first class meals, go to sleep listening to a chorus of frogs and thinking of the river’s own story from the headwaters to the sea.
