Inside enjoy the homely atmosphere with 3 roomy bedrooms and a large open living area with a log fire. The lounge room windows have a wonderful view of the mountains.  This self contained house sleeps up to 6 and has a fully equipped kitchen. The bathroom features a bath as well as a shower; there are two toilets and a laundry.

Bedrooms Master bedroom with Queen bed.  Bedroom 2 has a Double bed and a single bed.  Bedroom 3 has 1 single bed. Non smoking and no pets please. Approx 300km (4 hours drive) east from Melbourne. The Rail Trail Farmhouse is not suited to young children. Tariffs

What to do

The East Gippsland Rail Trail is just 200m from the door which puts you about midway between Bairnsdale and Bruthen.  Bike riding or walking almost at your doorstep! The East Gippsland Rail Trail is a shared trail used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders. More about the rail trail

Mountain bike enthusiasts might like to investigate the purpose built mountain bike trails at Nowa Nowa,  a town fast gaining a reputation for bicycle recreation.

Lakes Entrance, Metung and the Gippsland Lakes are less than half an hour drive away and further afield scenic drives take you through the Colquhoun State Forest or up into the mountains to the Alpine or Snowy River National Park.

The Tambo River has some popular summer swimming spots and a drive (or bike ride) along its banks provides some great scenery.

Nearby Bruthen boasts a bakery, tourist information, the Bull-ant Brewery & restaurant, a wonderful Op Shop, walking tracks and lots more.

Farm walks and activities may be available by prior arrangement.

More about the East Gippsland Rail Trail

The East Gippsland Rail Trail is a recreational trail and conservation reserve constructed on the alignment of the former railway that ran between Bairnsdale and Orbost. From Bairnsdale it travels though Nicholson, Bruthen, Nowa Nowa and Newmerella to Orbost.  With a total distance of 97km it includes some very picturesque sections through farmland and forest. A link track (Lakes Discovery Trail) has been constructed to link to Lakes Entrance. The Rail Trail Farmhouse is conveniently situated to provide comfortable accommodation almost adjacent to the rail trail.

Peak holiday loading for these days adds $30 to above costs for a couple per night and $5 per extra person per night.

Deposit -
To secure your booking a 50% deposit is required. The deposit is non-refundable for any cancellation 90 days or less prior to booked arrival date unless your entire booked period can be re-booked. Cancellations made 90 days or more prior to arrival date are eligible for their deposit refunded less a cancellation fee of $40.
