Birds & Birdwatching
Whether you simply enjoy time in nature or are a serious birdwatcher, birds will provide you with lots of enjoyment. Their beautiful calls, their bright colours and endearing habits make birds a joy to have around.
All nature tours and walks in our program include bird encounters with time to watch and enjoy birds in a wide range of landscapes or habitats we visit across Gippsland or beyond. (Bird lists available) You can also view images in the Bird image Gallery below or read the Blog story about A Tale of two Nests.
For serious birders, we offer two dedicated birdwatching tours where the focus of all our activities is on bird watching. However you don’t have to be an expert, this is a perfect way to build your birdwatching skills and enjoy sharing lots of different bird experiences with your fellow travellers.
If you enjoy birdwatching, but prefer it to be part of a broader nature experience, try some of the other ecotours with excellent opportunities for birdwatching. This spring we are offering a very special week long nature tour with a strong focus on birdwatching, led by 2 specialist guides - East Gippsland Nature Tour
On most tours we collate bird sightings onto survey lists and contribute these to the Birdlife Australia Bird Atlas (Birdata) as well as reporting sightings of banded shorebirds to the Wader Study Group. To date we’ve added over 500 surveys to the Bird Atlas, contributing to bird conservation.
