This classic lodge based walking tour is a perfect way to escape to the mountains for some exercise amidst inspirational scenery. Return home refreshed and invigorated, but also better informed as you learn about our wonderful Australian Alps.
From our cosy lodge accommodation at Dinner Plain we head out every day on a combination of moderate grade walks selected to introduce you to a great cross section of alpine environments. There will be energetic climbs to wonderful vantage points and gentle strolls across grassy plains.
Soft snowgrass will beckon you to sit a while and take in the peace and quiet, perhaps appreciating a brightly coloured beetle on a late flowering alpine daisy or a bird of prey soaring overhead. We have time for this, there is no rush. Listen to your guide relate stories of history and current use of the Alps.
There are trails that curve gently through the snowgums with their smooth trunks and interesting form until a magnificent view appears before you. Perhaps the next walk will lead to a high country hut or a waterfall. Other tracks follow exposed ridgelines above the tree-line where the mountain vista is all around us.
At the end of a day walking we return to the lodge for a hot shower and time to put your feet up or enjoy a good book while you guide prepares your meals. Now does that sound like a great holiday!
